Responsibility:	The Highway Department is repsonsible for 460 miles of roadways under its jurisdiction of which 160 miles are bituminous surfaced and 300 miles gravel surfaced and 22 bridges. The Department employs 16 persons for administration, maintenance, and construction.
Services:	The Department's budget includes $2.2 million from the State for construction and maintenance. Duties of the Department include: Blading - Hauling gravel - Annual County and Township bridge inspections - Mow roadsides - Noxious weed control - Administering contracts - Testing gravels and other contract materials - Purchasing equipment - Crack filling - Shouldering - Paint striping - Building maintenance/repair - Install/repair approaches - Tile roads - Patch bituminous - Maintain equipment - Order fuels, parts, culverts, etc. - Survey and design projects - Apply for environmental, right of way, permits - Review permits and forms - Signing
